Wet n Wild Megalast Salon Nail Color 218A I Need A Refresh-Mint Review and Swatches

OK, let me just start off by saying something totally unrelated, Pinterest is so friggin addictive!!! The reason why I've not posted yet this week is coz I've been there all the time pinning this, pinning that, pinning almost everything that could possibly be pinned online. I know, I have a problem here, so I decided not to pin too much today and do a blog post instead.

My first Wet n Wild mega last Nail Color was in the shade I Need A Refresh-Mint. And the packaging was one of the reasons. The back of the bottle clearly shows the shade name and the ingredients on a peel-open sticker. There's the logo of the company embossed on the other two sides. The top shows us that they have introduced a ManiCurve Pro Brush which I must say is very impressive. Looks very chic, sturdy, and promising for a product that is so inexpensive. The brush is mostly compared to the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure nail polishes but I never tried those so I cannot compare. I really love this shade. I think it is the perfect mint shade I've ever used and I love how this shade matches my skin tone perfectly.

Here's what the company claims about the mega last polishes: from wnwbeauty.com
Sophisticated, classic colors beautifully accent any look. Long-lasting, opaque color provides 5 days of chip-resistant wear. A revolutionary resin polymer system creates exceptional color adhesion to nails. This resilient polish is calcium and mineral fortified to rebalance and prevent nail discoloration. Comes with a unique, full-coverage brush that glides on smooth for one-stroke application. Toluene, phthalate, and formaldehyde-free.

The application was very easy and didn't get messy. One coat gives a very good opaque and rich color. I applied two coats and it dried pretty fast. I love the creamy smooth texture of this nail polish. And it does last for about 3 days with mild chipping after 3 days. You don't really need a base/top coat unless you want to use one. I love the fact that it is calcium and mineral-infused. I know I could do with some calcium as my nails are prone to breaking very easily.

It's an excellent product for such less price. I got it for $1 at Walgreens in a promotional sale and there is always some or the other sale. There's 0.45 oz (13.5 ml) of product and that should last for a long time. I recommend this to anyone who's a nail polish lover and would like to try mint shades. I'll repurchase this once it's over.

I loved the mint shade so much that I went ahead and got a few other shades. One thing I've noticed after trying many nail polishes from this line is that the formula is not consistent. It differs from shade to shade; not all have the same consistency and it usually varies with color, and finish. All the nail polishes from this line give opaque color with 2 coats, but the color is richer with some than with others. I have 5 nail polishes from this line, and I'm just giving you my two cents here, if you just want one color, then go get I Need A refresh-Mint and skip the rest coz it's the most unique color with the best formula. But if you wanna try out more colors then get them during a sale. Also, these nail polishes do not stain your nails so you don't really need a base coat and unless you want super shine you don't really need a top coat either. Also, I don't think there's a top coat that gives super shine.

I hope this review, helped you.

    1. Hmm yeah for warm skin with warm undertones this could be an issue. I'm kind of cool/neutral so this shade looks perfect on me. I think you can go with green nail polish with shimmer or golden tones.

Some Recent Regret Buys

In my opinion, it's not ethical blogging if we're only featuring the good and not talking about some bad products because let's face it, there are a lot of crappy products out there. And when we're not talking about them we're withholding important information and we're not being fair to our readers. In fact, it means we're being fairer to brands. It's fine if people want to earn some money through brand deals but it's really not worth it to become a sell-out. Some might say why bother writing about bad products, why not just let them be, but I want to put the word out there about bad products too because I want to help people like me save some money. Please note that when I say "bad products" it means "products that have not worked for me". However, these products might have worked very well for some others because each of us has different skin types and tolerance for products and it's totally OK. In the past few months, I t...

April 2012 Favorites and Regrets

I can't believe April has already come to an end. I can't say I'm sorry either because this means less rain, more blossoms, and summer in another month.  So without further ado, I present to you this month's beauty and makeup favorites.  As you can see there are quite a few things I've been liking this month. The list of all things beauty I've been loving/using frequently are: (in left to right order) Aussie Instant Freeze Hair Spray Extreme Hold : This product is just wow. The windy city can be brutal to hair especially when left open and this product is really a blessing. It gives a good hold without adding too much cast to the hair. You can build it up and get stronger hold if that is what you need.  It's easy to use and smells great. It's not too expensive and comes in a huge bottle. Clairol Herbal Essences Hydralicious Reconditioning Conditioner : I love this conditioner and this is a product worth repurchasing. I only wish they would put it in ...

3 Easy Ways To Diagnose Insulin Resistance

Disclaimer : I am not a healthcare professional but I am a patient who struggles with insulin resistance. This information is based on the knowledge I acquired after seeking help/guidance from various healthcare providers/professionals, and from my own expereinces. Insulin resistance is a condition where the cells in our body become less sensitive to insulin, the hormone that regulates blood sugar. Detecting insulin resistance involves assessing various factors. Here are some ways to evaluate it: BLOOD TESTS Important : These tests should be performed by healthcare professionals. If you suspect insulin resistance, it's crucial to consult with a doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment. - Fasting Blood Sugar (FBS): Measures blood sugar levels after an 8-hour fast. Normal FBS levels are typically between 70 to 99 mg/dL - Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT): Evaluates blood sugar levels at baseline and 2 hours after consuming a sugary drink. - Random Blood Sugar (RBS): Assesses blood sugar...
