ELF Nourishing Cuticle Pen Review

I have a very bad case of cuticle picking as they are always dry, flaky, and keep giving up on me. More than that it's like an addiction to me, I pick my cuticles whenever I'm bored, happy, nervous, you name it! I know it's a bad habit but I can't help it. So to solve this problem of mine I thought I'd give my cuticles some nourishment. I saw this cuticle pen on the ELF website and I had to give it a try.

It came in this clear packaging like most products from the ELF Essential line. And like all ELF products the directions, claims, ingredients, etc., are clearly given on the back.

I must say the cuticle oil in a pen idea is very creative and unique. It looks like a marker and has a felt tip like a marker.

At first, when I saw it, I didn't feel like it would do much, and frankly, I wasn't really sold on the whole felt tip cuticle pen thing but still, it was a $, and I wanted to give it a try. The felt tip, however, is what makes the application easy and precise, and it can also be used as a cuticle pusher. It's easy to get it into all the cracks and hollows. It's also very convenient to use on the nails. The tip is a little hard when you first use it but it gets better with usage and you do not have to press it hard to get the oil out so it's not rough on your cuticles. I have been using it for 3 weeks now and it seriously reduced my habit of cuticle picking from 3 times a week to once in 3 weeks. Now it's definitely no miracle worker but it does keep my cuticles from drying and flaking when used continuously, like at least 2-3 times a day. Also, they are right about it being quick-dry and with no mess. It gets absorbed fast and it doesn't feel greasy at all. It also doesn't have any significant scent. And what's more, it's very convenient to carry it around in your purse and use it wherever and whenever possible.

I feel good knowing that it has all the good and nutritious stuff like Almond, Avocado oils, Grape Seed Oil, Vitamins E, A, and C, Pro-Vitamin B5, and Aloe. My nails/cuticles are definitely looking better. I can't really think of any major issues I had with this product and considering it's only a dollar it's a pretty good product.

I recommend this to anyone facing dry cuticle problems like me and who needs a quick fix that doesn't cost much. You should definitely give this a try. This is my first cuticle pen, actually, this is my first cuticle anything, I never used anything specially for my cuticles before this. I'll repurchase this in case I don't find anything better. I don't know how much product you'll be getting coz it's not mentioned anywhere on the packaging or the product. But I'm sure it should last for a pretty good time. I bought mine on eyeslipsface.com but you can buy ELF products at Target too.

I hope the review helped you in making a choice.

Some Recent Regret Buys

In my opinion, it's not ethical blogging if we're only featuring the good and not talking about some bad products because let's face it, there are a lot of crappy products out there. And when we're not talking about them we're withholding important information and we're not being fair to our readers. In fact, it means we're being fairer to brands. It's fine if people want to earn some money through brand deals but it's really not worth it to become a sell-out. Some might say why bother writing about bad products, why not just let them be, but I want to put the word out there about bad products too because I want to help people like me save some money. Please note that when I say "bad products" it means "products that have not worked for me". However, these products might have worked very well for some others because each of us has different skin types and tolerance for products and it's totally OK. In the past few months, I t...

April 2012 Favorites and Regrets

I can't believe April has already come to an end. I can't say I'm sorry either because this means less rain, more blossoms, and summer in another month.  So without further ado, I present to you this month's beauty and makeup favorites.  As you can see there are quite a few things I've been liking this month. The list of all things beauty I've been loving/using frequently are: (in left to right order) Aussie Instant Freeze Hair Spray Extreme Hold : This product is just wow. The windy city can be brutal to hair especially when left open and this product is really a blessing. It gives a good hold without adding too much cast to the hair. You can build it up and get stronger hold if that is what you need.  It's easy to use and smells great. It's not too expensive and comes in a huge bottle. Clairol Herbal Essences Hydralicious Reconditioning Conditioner : I love this conditioner and this is a product worth repurchasing. I only wish they would put it in ...

3 Easy Ways To Diagnose Insulin Resistance

Disclaimer : I am not a healthcare professional but I am a patient who struggles with insulin resistance. This information is based on the knowledge I acquired after seeking help/guidance from various healthcare providers/professionals, and from my own expereinces. Insulin resistance is a condition where the cells in our body become less sensitive to insulin, the hormone that regulates blood sugar. Detecting insulin resistance involves assessing various factors. Here are some ways to evaluate it: BLOOD TESTS Important : These tests should be performed by healthcare professionals. If you suspect insulin resistance, it's crucial to consult with a doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment. - Fasting Blood Sugar (FBS): Measures blood sugar levels after an 8-hour fast. Normal FBS levels are typically between 70 to 99 mg/dL - Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT): Evaluates blood sugar levels at baseline and 2 hours after consuming a sugary drink. - Random Blood Sugar (RBS): Assesses blood sugar...
