Tag: Most Used Summer Things

I've been tagged by the lovely Aly, one of my favorite bloggers. Without further ado, listed below are my most used summer things.

 MOST USED NAIL POLISH
Tough one! I just love a lot of colors for summer and I definitely have more nail polishes than the number of weeks in summer, so there's no one most used nail polish, but I'll pick my fave of them all, which is, the Wet n Wild mega last salon nail color in I Need A Refresh-Mint.

I also recently found out that my review of this polish has been posted on the Wet n Wild VIP members' blog. This nail polish, hands down, has the best formula, and staying power as far as drugstore polishes go, and the color is the most gorgeous mint I've ever seen. I most definitely enjoyed having it both on my hands and toes during this summer.

MOST USED PERFUME/SCENT
I've been using two actually, alternating them every single day this summer coz that's how much I like them. The Victoria's Secret Pure Seduction, and Bath & Body Works Be Enchanted. I got them during the semi-annual sale last summer. They're both sweet and fruity scented and I am quite pleasantly surprised about how strong and long lasting they are. They smell like perfumes, well, maybe not expensive luxury ones but they're definitely on par with budget perfumes like Guess, Calvin Klein etc.

I got them both for great prices during the sale but even if they were regularly priced I would have gotten them, they're just worth it.

MOST USED LIP PRODUCT
I am not a makeup person. I experiment now and then and mostly I buy makeup to review for my blog but normally I rarely wear makeup. So the only lip product I used was Vaseline, and sometimes a Nivea lip balm.

MOST USED MASCARA
I am always trying out new mascaras and currently, I'm using the CoverGirl lash blast volume. It gives good volume with a little bit of length. Overall it was a pretty good mascara and I might buy it again.

MOST USED BLUSH
Definitely my NARS Orgasm blush. I only wear this all through the year ever since I discovered it. This blush just looks natural on me and gives me just the right amount of color without looking intense/festive. I think it would look good on anyone since it's such a universally flattering color. And no, no matter what anyone says, this blush cannot be duped.

MOST USED FOUNDATION
My most worn this summer is the Maybelline Dream matte powder. I just love it so much that I always have a backup. Not the most long-lasting powder ever but it gives a very nice matte airbrush finish that looks great on camera without looking cakey.

MOST USED HAIR PRODUCT
I have two which I've been using a lot this summer. The Schwarzkopf Smoothing Lustre Lotion, and the Parachute Therapie hair oil (I got this one from my last India trip. We Indians just cannot live without oiling our hair regularly). They're both great products and totally worth the money.

So those are all of my summer faves. Hope you enjoyed reading this lengthy post. Please feel free to do this tag if you like it. Hope you all had a great summer!

Some Recent Regret Buys

In my opinion, it's not ethical blogging if we're only featuring the good and not talking about some bad products because let's face it, there are a lot of crappy products out there. And when we're not talking about them we're withholding important information and we're not being fair to our readers. In fact, it means we're being fairer to brands. It's fine if people want to earn some money through brand deals but it's really not worth it to become a sell-out. Some might say why bother writing about bad products, why not just let them be, but I want to put the word out there about bad products too because I want to help people like me save some money. Please note that when I say "bad products" it means "products that have not worked for me". However, these products might have worked very well for some others because each of us has different skin types and tolerance for products and it's totally OK. In the past few months, I t...

April 2012 Favorites and Regrets

I can't believe April has already come to an end. I can't say I'm sorry either because this means less rain, more blossoms, and summer in another month.  So without further ado, I present to you this month's beauty and makeup favorites.  As you can see there are quite a few things I've been liking this month. The list of all things beauty I've been loving/using frequently are: (in left to right order) Aussie Instant Freeze Hair Spray Extreme Hold : This product is just wow. The windy city can be brutal to hair especially when left open and this product is really a blessing. It gives a good hold without adding too much cast to the hair. You can build it up and get stronger hold if that is what you need.  It's easy to use and smells great. It's not too expensive and comes in a huge bottle. Clairol Herbal Essences Hydralicious Reconditioning Conditioner : I love this conditioner and this is a product worth repurchasing. I only wish they would put it in ...

3 Easy Ways To Diagnose Insulin Resistance

Disclaimer : I am not a healthcare professional but I am a patient who struggles with insulin resistance. This information is based on the knowledge I acquired after seeking help/guidance from various healthcare providers/professionals, and from my own expereinces. Insulin resistance is a condition where the cells in our body become less sensitive to insulin, the hormone that regulates blood sugar. Detecting insulin resistance involves assessing various factors. Here are some ways to evaluate it: BLOOD TESTS Important : These tests should be performed by healthcare professionals. If you suspect insulin resistance, it's crucial to consult with a doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment. - Fasting Blood Sugar (FBS): Measures blood sugar levels after an 8-hour fast. Normal FBS levels are typically between 70 to 99 mg/dL - Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT): Evaluates blood sugar levels at baseline and 2 hours after consuming a sugary drink. - Random Blood Sugar (RBS): Assesses blood sugar...
