Some Recent Regret Buys

In my opinion, it's not ethical blogging if we're only featuring the good and not talking about some bad products because let's face it, there are a lot of crappy products out there. And when we're not talking about them we're withholding important information and we're not being fair to our readers. In fact, it means we're being fairer to brands. It's fine if people want to earn some money through brand deals but it's really not worth it to become a sell-out. Some might say why bother writing about bad products, why not just let them be, but I want to put the word out there about bad products too because I want to help people like me save some money. Please note that when I say "bad products" it means "products that have not worked for me". However, these products might have worked very well for some others because each of us has different skin types and tolerance for products and it's totally OK.

In the past few months, I tried some bath and skincare products and these two are something that I really regret buying. Now, they are not expensive, I got them at the drugstore and one of them, the VO5 shampoo, is just a dollar but nonetheless, I did pay something for it and since it didn't work for me I'm going to rant about it.

This is my first VO5 shampoo and I seriously don't remember why I picked it up, must have been an impulsive buy since it was only 99cents. I knew it wouldn't work but I bought it anyway. I got the herbal escapes moisturizing one thinking it wouldn't at least wreck my frizzy hair. But I was totally wrong, this shampoo is very drying. For something that says moisturizing and rich formula on its label, it stripped my hair and scalp of all the moisture and left it feeling itchy. The formula doesn't look rich either, it's a gel based shampoo. I have to use a ton of conditioner after using this and a lot of oil on my scalp. The fragrance isn't great either, it's called Free me Freesia. I don't know if the other flavors are any good but I'm not going to bother anyways, I can just feel they are all going to be similar. This shampoo is utter rubbish, don't buy it.

I was recommended the Summer's Eve Simply Sensitive Cleansing Wash for sensitive skin by my GP, and to think a doctor would know something about soaps was my mistake. I went to her for a solution for my recurring yeast infection and she suggested I use this. Seriously, this stuff did nothing better than a normal soap would do. The soap is meant for washing down there and keeping it PH balanced and clean. It is also dermatologist and gynecologist tested/recommended. It's a clear gel that's tacky and has no fragrance. It made the area drier than before and it did nothing to control my yeast infection from recurring. So if you ask me, don't buy this shit, stick with your regular soap/wash or whatever you use to clean down there. Also, you are not supposed to clean your vaginal area with soap since that area is self-cleaning. These soaps are only for the outer area. My doctor didn't even bother to mention that to me. I had to google it. I'm ditching this stuff and using my Dove moisturizing body wash to clean down there and it works much better in my opinion.

Did any of you buy these products and maybe had a similar experience or have they totally worked for you? Please do let me know. Hope this post helped you in making a choice.

  3. I have tried the Vo5 too and I didn't like it too. It left my hair so dry and hard which makes it hard for me to comb it.

April 2012 Favorites and Regrets

I can't believe April has already come to an end. I can't say I'm sorry either because this means less rain, more blossoms, and summer in another month.  So without further ado, I present to you this month's beauty and makeup favorites.  As you can see there are quite a few things I've been liking this month. The list of all things beauty I've been loving/using frequently are: (in left to right order) Aussie Instant Freeze Hair Spray Extreme Hold : This product is just wow. The windy city can be brutal to hair especially when left open and this product is really a blessing. It gives a good hold without adding too much cast to the hair. You can build it up and get stronger hold if that is what you need.  It's easy to use and smells great. It's not too expensive and comes in a huge bottle. Clairol Herbal Essences Hydralicious Reconditioning Conditioner : I love this conditioner and this is a product worth repurchasing. I only wish they would put it in ...

10 Popular Perfumes/Mists With The Same Scent DNA As Baccarat Rouge 540

Baccarat Rouge 540 was launched in 2016 by the famous perfumer Maison Francis Kurkdjian. Since then it has reached a whole new level of popularity when it comes to perfumes, especially on social media. But since it is a very expensive perfume there are a lot of people like me, who cannot justify spending so much on a perfume, and who are looking for something similar that costs less. On the other hand brands that grasp the popularity also come up with perfumes that are inspired by the OG. People refer to these as dupes or smell-a-likes. It's basically a win win situation for everyone. I am personally not crazy about the scent profile that BR540 belongs to but since it is so hyped I wanted to try it out for myself. So I went to the store several times and tested it on the paper strips, on my clothes, and on my skin. And after several tries I decided that it is not really for me. It's a little too spicy and woody for my tastes. And since it is so expensive it's also not some...
