5 Ways to Reduce Consumption and Live Sustainably

There are many ways you can reduce your consumption habits and live more sustainably.

Here are five general tips:

Buy less, buy better

Before you buy something, ask yourself if you really need it, if you already have something similar, or if you can borrow, rent, or swap it with someone else. If you do buy something, choose quality over quantity, and opt for ethical and eco-friendly brands and products.

Use what you have

Make the most of the things you already own, and avoid wasting them. For example, you can repair, reuse, or repurpose your clothes, furniture, or electronics, instead of throwing them away or buying new ones. You can also use natural or homemade alternatives to common household products, such as vinegar, baking soda, or lemon juice.

Reduce your food waste

Plan your meals ahead, shop smart, and store your food properly. Eat your leftovers, or freeze them for later. Compost your food scraps, or donate them to a local farm or community garden. You can also grow your own food, or buy local and organic produce.

Save energy and water

Turn off the lights, appliances, and devices when you’re not using them. Use renewable energy sources, such as solar panels, wind turbines, or hydroelectric power. Install energy-efficient light bulbs, appliances, and devices. Use less water, and fix any leaks or drips. You can also collect rainwater, or use greywater for watering plants or flushing toilets.

Choose green transportation

Walk, bike, or use public transport whenever possible. If you need to drive, carpool, or use a hybrid or electric car. Avoid flying, or offset your carbon emissions if you do. You can also travel locally, or explore nature instead of urban areas.

These are just some of the ways you can reduce your consumption habits and live more sustainably. But most of all, tell friends and family you don’t want material presents. You can avoid clutter and overconsumption by asking your loved ones to give you experiences, digital gifts, or charity donations instead of physical items. This way, you can enjoy meaningful and memorable gifts without adding to your environmental impact.

15 Must Watch Chinese Youth Dramas That are Artistic Masterpieces

I stopped watching youth dramas (dramas usually set in high school/college backdrop) over a year ago since I felt like I was getting too old for these. I find most of them quite juvenile like I am watching the Disney channel. However, before I completely stopped, I tried watching more than 30 popular youth dramas and I had to drop most of them because they were just too mediocre, with bad writing, and bad acting/editing. But I also found some gems that were just too good and should not be missed by anyone, doesn't matter how old you are. These dramas have something more than just being a funny/silly high school/college drama. They have some kind of an x-factor to them that makes them quite unique in my opinion. Be it the story, the casting, the cinematography, the costumes, the locations/settings, etc. all together create a magical on-screen experience that I have not found in the other youth dramas that I have seen. Listed below are my top picks from the Chinese youth drama genre ...

Top 12 Things to Buy from Kruidvat own Brand

We've been seeing inflation here in the Netherlands since October last year. It's just plain ridiculous to see something that I paid 5 euros for a few months back is now around 7 euros or maybe more. That doesn't sound like a lot but when you buy about 50 things (food, groceries, toiletries, etc.) for your house, it all adds up and overall you are paying 50 to 100 euros more than what you were paying previously. But unfortunately, not a lot of us have seen this increase in our pay and many people have even lost jobs during and after the covid crisis. So it's only natural for us to want to save our money wherever we can. But that said we also do not want to compromise on quality. And that is where the idea for this post comes from. Kruidvat is a drugstore that is similar to CVS/Walgreens in the US. Products sold here are mostly hygiene products, cleaning supplies, makeup, and over-the-counter medicines. I have been shopping here for hygiene products for years. By now I ...

10 Popular Perfumes/Mists With The Same Scent DNA As Baccarat Rouge 540

Baccarat Rouge 540 was launched in 2016 by the famous perfumer Maison Francis Kurkdjian. Since then it has reached a whole new level of popularity when it comes to perfumes, especially on social media. But since it is a very expensive perfume there are a lot of people like me, who cannot justify spending so much on a perfume, and who are looking for something similar that costs less. On the other hand brands that grasp the popularity also come up with perfumes that are inspired by the OG. People refer to these as dupes or smell-a-likes. It's basically a win win situation for everyone. I am personally not crazy about the scent profile that BR540 belongs to but since it is so hyped I wanted to try it out for myself. So I went to the store several times and tested it on the paper strips, on my clothes, and on my skin. And after several tries I decided that it is not really for me. It's a little too spicy and woody for my tastes. And since it is so expensive it's also not some...
